Virtual Proximity

Back to Bands

Recorded over a period of four years, Virtual Proximity is the highly original debut album from saxophonist / producer James Annesley.

The music combines instrumental jazz with electronic loops, hip-hop style beats and environmental samples, engulfing the listener in cinematic soundscapes propelled by relentless rhythms. The mood is often dark and introspective, with some weird surprises along the way.

This multimedia show will be the first live performance of the material from Virtual Proximity, with support from Tristan Courtney (Laptop, Bass) and Rob Jarvis (live video projection).

Originally from Adelaide, James Annesley is generally known for his work as a saxophonist on the Melbourne scene, where he has performed with several jazz, world music, funk and hip-hop outfits. He currently leads his own quartet, playing original contemporary jazz, which has toured nationally and released two albums.

Virtual proximity is available on CD through chaos.com. mp3 version can be downloaded from iTunes
